About the Hub

The Early Career Researchers (ECR) Hub is an initiative to support and empower young scientists in Earth system science. It provides a platform for collaboration, learning, and innovation through shared resources, events, and mentorship.

Who is an ECR in Earth Sciences?

An Early Career Researcher (ECR) is an individual in the early stages of their research career. This typically includes:

• Graduate students (Master’s or Ph.D. level)
• Postdoctoral researchers
• Researchers who have completed their highest degree (usually a Ph.D.) within the past 10 years
• Researchers actively engaged in climate, atmospheric, oceanic, cryosphere, or broader Earth system sciences

The ECR Hub Structure

• Working Groups: Focused teams driving research and thematic exploration across Earth system science domains.
• Training and Workshops: Capacity-building programs offering hands-on learning in scientific methods, modeling, communication, and emerging tools like AI and data science.
• Newsletter and Communication: Regular updates, opportunities, and community highlights to keep members informed and engaged.
• Resources – Data and Tools: Curated access to datasets, modeling platforms, and open-source tools to support transparent and reproducible research.
• Outreach and Collaboration: Connecting ECRs with national and international institutions, stakeholders, and communities for interdisciplinary partnerships and impactful engagement.
